David Richmond

Consultant in Urogynaecology

David graduated from Edinburgh University in 1977 and spent his initial training there before moving as lecturer to Liverpool University in 1983. He spent a year as SR in Adelaide, Australia before appointment as Consultant in 1990 in Liverpool. He was appointed Medical Director in 1993 of Liverpool Women’s Hospital until 2010 before election as Vice President and then President of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (2013 – 2016).

His clinical specialty was that of Urogynaecology. As Chair of the audit Committee of the British Society of Urogynaecology he developed the national BSUG Surgical database with others. At the RCOG he was instrumental in delivering national outcome reports for maternity now the National Maternal and Perinatal Audit programme.

He retired from clinical practice in 2017 and is now a member of the MDU Council and Cases Committee and Chair of the Clinical Advisory Group for Women and Children within the Cheshire and Mersey STP.

Mike Horrocks

Consultant Vascular Surgeon

Mike has focused on both elective and emergency Vascular Surgery in networks and Trusts throughout his long career.

He was Professor of Surgery in Bath before his recent retirement and has been Secretary General of the European Society of Vascular Surgery, President of the Vascular Society of Great Britain and Ireland, President of ASGBI and a Council member of RCS chairing Education and Professional Standards, culminating as Senior Vice-President.

Appointed consultant surgeon at the Bristol Royal Infirmary in 1982, Mike moved to Bath in 1991 to take up the Postgraduate Chair in Surgery with an interest in vascular surgery. He attended Guys Hospital for his undergraduate training followed by post-graduate training at Ipswich, Guys Hospital, Medway, Kings and the South West.
