Pui-Ling Li

Consultant in Public Health

Pui-Ling Li is a Consultant in Public Health with over twenty years of experience in the delivery of health, service improvements and system change at local, regional, national and international level.

First trained as a General Practitioner in the East End of London, she went on to train as a public health physician. She is a Fellow of the Faculty of Public Health since 2001.

She has held a number of Board and Executive Director level roles in the NHS, in Government Departments and in the Third Sector. She has extensive experience in raising the quality of health care in primary and secondary care settings, always looking for an innovative approach to deliver health outcomes. In her most recent appointment as the Chief Medical Officer and Chief Scientist of Department for Work & Pensions, she has used this unique strategic role to deliver health through the complex landscape of employment, welfare support, and health science.

Cathy Cale

Consultant in Paediatric Immunology and Immunopathology

Cathy is a Consultant in Paediatric Immunology and Immunopathology at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust. She was appointed to the post in 2001.

Dr Cale qualified from the University of Birmingham and trained in paediatrics and pathology (immunology.)

In recent years she has held a range of senior leadership roles including Deputy and then Interim Medical Director at Great Ormond Street and Medical Director at North Middlesex University Hospital. She is currently Deputy Medical Director for NHS Improvement London Region, combining this with her clinical ambassador role and clinical work.
