GIRFT evaluation and learning framework supports insight, improvement and implementation

GIRFT has published its first evaluation and learning framework, setting out the principles, methods and approaches that underpin the programme’s evaluation activity.

Clinicians, programme teams and colleagues involved in GIRFT can use the framework to better understand how quality improvement initiatives are implemented, what can be learned from implementation, what impact QI projects have and how improvements introduced through GIRFT can be sustained – providing a fuller picture of how improvement occurs in practice.

GIRFT’s various initiatives – such as our clinical workstreams, the Community and District Nurse Insulin Programme (CADNIP) and the MSK Community Delivery Programme (MSK CDP) – play a key role in supporting improvements in clinical services across the NHS. The new framework outlines the complementary approaches that help GIRFT to understand impact, monitor delivery and learn from implementation across participating organisations.

It also includes an overview of concepts and approaches that can help NHS teams think about programme design, reflect on implementation and capture learning as initiatives are delivered.
