As 2025 comes to a close, the GIRFT programme is reflecting on a year of progress in improving clinical pathways, reducing variation and standardising care across the NHS.
Throughout December, our GIRFT Greatest Hits Countdown on social media highlighted the guidance and resources that have supported clinicians in delivering better outcomes for patients.
Our data shows there were a total of 154,064 documents downloaded from our website and 27,850 via our FutureNHS workspace in 2025 – a clear indication of the commitment to implementing best practice across services.
Rounding off our 2025 Christmas campaign, we present the ten most downloaded GIRFT documents produced in 2025. These resources represent the areas where clinicians have sought guidance, support and insight, and they continue to play a vital role in shaping best practice across the NHS.

Looking ahead to 2026
These documents are more than downloads, they are tools for transformation. As we move into 2026, we encourage clinical teams to review these resources, and the wealth of specialty specific guidance on our website and FutureNHS, and consider how they can be implemented to improve patient safety and experience, and NHS efficiency.
Thank you to all who engaged with our countdown and who continue to champion best practice across the NHS.
