Professor Tim Briggs, Chairman of the Getting It Right First Time programme (GIRFT) has been made a Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the New Year’s Honours List for services to the surgical profession.

Professor Briggs said: “I feel very honoured to have been made a CBE which is in recognition of the work we are currently doing, through the GIRFT programme, to improve patient care within the NHS”.

Dr. Clifford Mann, GIRFT joint clinical lead for Emergency Medicine, was also appointed an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to emergency medicine.
