Did you know that GIRFT now has a wealth of data available on the Model Health System (MHS), enabling NHS colleagues to view up-to-date, benchmarked data on their performance to support elective recovery, improve clinical care and reduce unwarranted variation?

GIRFT metrics are now available on MHS for 16 surgical and medical specialties (with more to come), many of which highlight key metrics with benchmarks set by GIRFT clinical leads. GIRFT metrics are based on clinically-defined procedure/diagnostic groups and include length of stay, day case rates and readmissions. Data is updated monthly and can be viewed at provider, ICB or regional level. Snapshot data can be compared to other organisations and time-series charts can be used to review and monitor progress.

To support elective recovery, GIRFT offers specific metrics for High Volume Low Complexity (HVLC) pathways on MHS, accompanied by a standalone HVLC dashboard. There is also benchmarking data on day case rates for British Association of Day Surgery (BADS) procedures and a range of metrics to review elective theatre performance.

The GIRFT Summary Emergency Department Indicator Table (SEDIT) can also now be accessed via MHS, to support ED teams to understand service delivery and identify opportunities to support recovery, improvement and transformation.
