QR code poster offers easy access to GIRFT’s diabetes in the ED interactive pathways

A poster enabling clinicians in the emergency department and other acute care teams to quickly access GIRFT’s interactive pathways for patients with diabetes is now available for download and printing.

In 2023, GIRFT developed a range of interactive resources to support NHS colleagues caring for people with diabetes in ED, demonstrating examples of the processes and key decisions they need to work through to offer best practice care.

These include a list of essential diabetes safety checks that should be carried out for all people with diabetes, plus pathways for:

  • Initial management of hyperglycaemia in adults in the ED.
  • Management of patients who are admitted in hypoglycaemia.
  • Management of patients presenting to the emergency department (ED) with a foot problem.

Following feedback from colleagues who have piloted the pathways, the GIRFT team have now created a poster for display in clinical areas, allowing colleagues to scan QR codes quickly to access the resource they want to refer to.

GIRFT’s interactive pathways are easy to navigate and can also be used and bookmarked on all handheld and desktop devices for fast access.
