Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) Chair Professor Tim Briggs is joining a panel of experts to discuss the case for expanding the use of surgical hubs to help tackle the elective backlog, in a webinar hosted by the Royal College of Surgeons (RCS).
The webinar – The case for surgical hubs – takes place on 13th July at 6.45pm. Register here.
In addition to Professor Briggs, the panel line-up includes:
- Professor Neil Mortensen, president of the RCS;
- Professor John Skinner, president of the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA);
- Miss Stella Vig, NHS England’s national clinical director for elective care.
The webinar supports the RCS report of the same name, which considers the case for separating elective and emergency patient flows and developing elective surgical hubs to increase throughput and help reduce waiting times. The report highlights different models and approaches and presents a number of case studies from trusts which set up surgical hubs in response to the pandemic.
